SUMMARY:World Games Birmingham (2023)
DESCRIPTION:To mark the entry into the World Games 2023\, a joint press conference was held by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI)\, Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled\, and Indian Blind Sports Association (IBSA) on 7 August at the Press Club of India. \nWith former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif as the Chief Guest\, the other members who made up the panel were Dr. Mahantesh G Kivadasannvar – Chairperson (CABI)\, Mr. Shailender Yadav – General Secretary (CABI)\, Mr. David Absalom – Hony. General Secretary (IBSA)\, and Mr. Munawar Anwar\, General Secretary\, Indian Blind and Para Judo Association. \nUnder the Indian Blind Sports Association\, which is the largest national-level sports body devoted to the promotion of sports among the visually challenged in the country\, IBSA’s sports-specific federations would be participating in the World Games. \nThe teams were- \n∙ Judo – The Indian Blind and Para Judo Association \n∙ Football – The Indian Blind Football Federation \n∙ Powerlifting – IBSA \nThe Indian Blind Sports Association has collaborated with the Cricket Association for the Blind to send the men’s and women’s cricket teams to the World Games. This is the first time that cricket is introduced at the IBSA World Games.

SUMMARY:International Blind Sports Federation - IBSA Asia Oceania Blind Football Championships
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 International Blind Sports Federation- IBSA Blind Football Asia-Oceania Championships were held in Kochi\, Kerala from 11-18 November. \nThis was the first time in India that a para-football event had 10 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams. The event was a qualifier for the World Championships Birmingham 2023 and Paris Paralympics 2024. \nOfficials and delegates from across the world attended the event including the Chairman of Blind Football Mr. Elias Mastoras from Greece\, referee coordinator from Argentina\, medical classifiers from the US\, Brazil\, UK\, and referees from Asia-Oceania region. \nThe Japan Women’s team won the 2022 title beating the India Women’s team 1-0 in a closely fought contest on 12 November. With this both teams qualify for the first IBSA World Women’s Championships’23 at Birmingham\, UK. \nIn the men’s event\, the Chinese team won the championships beating Thailand on penalties in the final. Japan secured the third position after their victory against Iran. \nThe hosts\, India\, finished in the 7th position. The Championships was the biggest para-football event held in India and it helped spread awareness about the game. The matches were broadcasted online on digital platforms.

SUMMARY:2019 IBSA World Powerlifting & Bench Press Championships
DESCRIPTION:The 2019 IBSA World and first Africa Powerlifting & Bench Press Championships was held in Giza\, Egypt on 15-22 November 2019. 75 athletes representing 10 countries participated in this event. Triptpal Singh from India won a bronze medal in Powerlifting under the 125kg category. The International Blind Sports Federation also hosted a Coaching and Referring Seminar alongside the Powerlifting Championship. Deepak Kumar\, coach of Triptpal Singh successfully completed the training to become an official IBSA Referee (Powerlifting).

SUMMARY:13th Annual IBSA World Open Bench Press & Powerlifting Championships for the Blind\, Egypt
DESCRIPTION:The Indian team comprising Akshay Bidhuri and Ajay Birajdar participated in the 13th Annual IBSA World Open Bench Press & Powerlifting Championships for the Blind held from 10-18 November at Luxor\, Egypt. Akshay Bidhuri\, a Class XII student at JPM Senior Secondary School\, the Blind Relief Association\, Delhi won two gold medals in bench press and powerlifting (under 56 kg weight category) and Ajay Birajdar from Maharashtra won a gold in bench press & silver in powerlifting (under 75kg weight category)\, thus totaling to 4 medals for India. Around 120 athletes from 10 countries competed for the world title in powerlifting and bench press under various weight categories. The athletes were congratulated and the victory was celebrated at a felicitation ceremony organized by the Blind Relief Association & Indian Blind Sports Association at Gandhi Hall\, B.R.A on 20 November\, 2018. Mr. Naresh Dhawan\, General Secretary of the Delhi State Powerlifting Association was the chief guest of the occasion.
