SUMMARY:Para-Swimmers Sight Classification
DESCRIPTION:The Blind Relief Association hosted a sight classification event for para-swimmers on April 9\, 2023. Participants from Maharashtra\, Odisha\, Kolkata\, Gujarat\, and Karnataka underwent classification during this event. Following this\, on May 28\, 2023\, a sight classification session for chess players was also conducted at the Blind Relief Association. Additionally\, on June 22\, 2023\, the International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) organized a sight classification event in collaboration with the Paralympic Committee of Bengal at Salt Lake\, Kolkata. During this event\, approximately 80 players were classified by the designated team. These classification initiatives play a crucial role in ensuring fair competition and participation opportunities for visually impaired athletes across different sports. SUMMARY:Paralympic Committee of India- Sight Classification
DESCRIPTION:The Indian Blind Sports Association helped with the sight classification of athletes for the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). The Paralympic Committee of India is the body responsible for selecting athletes to represent India at the Paralympic Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indian teams at the events. The organization was founded in 1992 as the Physically Handicapped Sports Federation of India. The team from IBSA was invited by the Paralympic Committee of India to do the Sight Classification for the PCI National Para Athletics Championship held from 28 – 31 March 2022 in Bhubaneshwar. The classification was successfully completed by the team on 27 March 2022. This was the first time the Sight Classification done for the visually impaired category in the PCI national meet by the IPC/IBSA certified national classifiers.

SUMMARY:Online Sight Classifier Training Program
DESCRIPTION:The Indian Blind Sports Association in collaboration with the International Blind Sports Federation and International Paralympic Committee\, conducted a Sight Classifier Training Program on online mode from 11 – 23 January\, 2022. The event had 13 participants from India and other countries like Bahrain\, Myanmar\, South Africa\, Japan\, and Azerbaijan\, and 11 successfully completed the training. \nThe Indian Sight Classification Software developed by the Indian Blind Sports Association was formally launched online on 15 January 2022 by Hony. Chairperson IBSA – Mrs. Radhika Bharat Ram. Dr. Deepa Malik\, President Paralympic Committee of India graced the occasion with her kind presence along with the IBSA Executive Committee members. The participants of the Sight Classifier Training programme also attended the software launch event. \nIn the closing ceremony of the Training Program\, Dr. José Doria\, International Classifier and Dr. Tania Jain addressed the participants and as a special guest Mr. Zdeněk Barlok\, Chairman of the Czech Blind Sports Federation made a presentation on Showdown – a game played by the visually impaired.
