SUMMARY:Eastern Region Coaching Camp for Visually Impaired Female Athletes
DESCRIPTION:The Indian Blind Sports Association in partnership with the Voice of World organized the first-ever Eastern Region Coaching Camp for Visually Impaired Female Athletes. It was conducted from 21 – 25 March 2022 at the Parnashree Govt. Housing Quarters Ground\, Kolkata. \nAt the inauguration ceremony\, Revered Khokon Maharaj of Bharat Sevashram Sangha\, Smt. Sanchita Mitra – Local Councillor\, Shri Subrata Shankar Ghosh – President of West Bengal Luxury Taxi Association\, Ms. Gargi Gupta – Founder of ‘Voice of World’ and various other dignitaries were present. The visually challenged students of Voice of World showcased their musical talents in a small cultural programme. The Coaching Camp was formally inaugurated by Revered Khokon Maharaj through chanting of Sanskrit Shlokas after the dignitaries lighted the auspicious lamp. \nAbout 25 visually impaired female athletes from West Bengal\, Jharkhand & Bihar participated in the residential Coaching Camp. The camp offered training in sports events like races of 100m\, 200m\, 400m and 800m\, javelin throw\, shot put\, discus throw and long jump. During the training program\, all athletes were educated on blind sports rules and regulations as per the International Blind Sports Federation. The camp was guided by the able mentorship of Mr. Sudhir Rana\, a paralympics international coach\, and Mr. Ramashray Ram\, former Instructor – Orientation & Mobility of the Blind Relief Association. \nAt the closing ceremony\, Smt. Ratna Chatterjee\, MLA\, West Bengal; Smt.Sanchita Mitra\, Councilor\, Kolkata Municipal; Mr. Subrata Shanker Ghosh\, President\, Kolkata Luxury Taxi Association\, Smt. Gargi Gupta\, Founder Secretary Voice of World and Mr. David\, Hony. General Secretary IBSA & Chairman Asian Region International Blind Sports Federation were present. Along with the certificates\, the participants were provided with kit bag\, T-shirts\, track suit\, and yoga mat.

SUMMARY:Southern Region Coaching Camp for Visually-Impaired Women Atheletes
DESCRIPTION:The Southern Region Coaching Camp for Visually Impaired Female Athletes was held in Hyderabad from 27 January – 2 February 2020. \nThis was next in the series to conducting the Northern Region Coaching Camp in Delhi from 10 – 15 September 2018 15 athletes from Telangana\, Andhra Pradesh\, Tamil Nadu\, Karnataka and Kerala participated in the camp. \nThis camp was held in partnership with Netra Vidhyalaya Degree College for the Blind. Shri Sudhir Rana\, eminent coach official from Athletic Federation of India and a close associate of IBSA\, trained the athletes along with Shri Ramashray Ram from the Blind Relief Association. \nAs a new initiative of IBSA\, an Inter-University Athletic Competition was organized in partnership with Netra Vidhyalaya Degree College for the Blind on 1 -2 February in order to promote interest and competitive spirit in sports among the younger generation. \nA total of 110 boys and girls participated in the competition and won prizes. His Holiness Srimannarayana China Jeeyar Swamiji was the Chief Guest of the Closing Ceremony held on 2 February 2020.

SUMMARY:Goalball Workshop
DESCRIPTION:As a part of the 21st National Athletics Championship for the Blind 2018 held from 10-13 December in Thyagaraj Stadium\, New Delhi\, a two-day Goalball workshop was conducted by experts from Finland and Russia. Kari Rasanen\, Chairman\, Juha Halme\, Referee Coordinator and Alexey Baryaev\, Sports Director from International Blind Sports Federation – Goalball. They conducted both seminar and practice sessions for the athletes\, officials\, coaches\, and referees. The attendees were also awarded participation certificates from IBSA (International Blind Sports Federation) Goalball at the Valedictory Ceremony. \nAround 100 players and 65 coaches and officials took part in the workshop. The workshop was sponsored by the IBSA – Goalball Committee in order to encourage and improve goalball in India.

SUMMARY:Northern Region Coaching Camp for Visually-Impaired Women Atheletes
DESCRIPTION:Indian Blind Sports Association (IBSA) and USHA International jointly launched ‘Vision 2020’\, a campaign to attract and train a large number of female athletes in sports. As a part of this campaign\, IBSA organized Northern Region Coaching Camp for Female Athletes in Delhi from 10 – 15 September 2018. 24 athletes from the northern region including Delhi\, Uttar Pradesh\, Haryana\, Punjab\, Himachal Pradesh and J&K participated in the camp. The details of athletes are as given below: \n(a) Delhi – 7 Nos. (4 x National\, 3 x State level ) \n(b) Haryana – 1 No. (National Level) \n(c) Himachal Pradesh – 1 No. (State Level) \n(d) J & K – 6 Nos. (State Level) \n(e) Punjab – 7 Nos. (1 x National\, 6 x State level) \n(f) U.P. – 2 Nos. (1 x International\, 1 x National level) \nThe camp was held from 06.30 A.M. to 09.30 A.M. at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and from 04.30 P.M. to 06.30 P.M. at the Blind Relief Association\, Delhi. The morning session was conducted by Dr. Satyapal Singh (Dronacharya Awardee) and the evening session by Mr. G. Krishnan (Level II Official IPC).

SUMMARY:Lawn Tennis Coaching Camp\, Mumbai
DESCRIPTION:Indian Blind Sports Association (IBSA) and Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) in a collaborative initiative conducted a Lawn Tennis Coaching Camp for coaches and players in Mumbai from 19-21 February. This is in continuation to the success of the first regional Coaching Camp held in Delhi from 13-15 February 2018 in collaboration with Delhi Lawn Tennis Association. \nMore than 20 coaches and visually impaired players took part and benefitted through the camp. Simon McFarland\, a Tennis Level 2 (ITF Advanced) Coach and Tennis & Squash Director at Windsor Lawn Tennis Club in Belfast\, Ireland was the main coach for this training and provided his services free of cost. McFarland had been coaching tennis for 15 years. They became the first club in Northern Ireland to coach blind and visually impaired tennis in association with the Royal National Institute for the Blind since 2015. He was accompanied by celebrated Dr. Davinder Kapur\, a recipient of the MBE (Most Excellent Order of The British Empire) for his outstanding services in medicine and charity.
