First Youth Para Goalball National Championship 2025

The First Youth Para Goalball National Championship 2025, organized by the Para Sports Association of Delhi, was held from 26 to 29 September 2025 at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

The championship brought together visually impaired athletes under the age of 21 from across India, providing a national platform to compete, gain experience, and develop competitive skills. The event marked an important step in strengthening Goalball in India and advancing structured opportunities for young para-athletes.

The championship represents a key milestone in the development of Goalball in India, with a long-term focus on preparing athletes for international competitions, including the Paralympic Games and Para Asian Games. It has established a strong foundation for the continued growth of the sport and inspired the next generation of para-athletes.


Objectives

  • To promote Goalball as a Paralympic sport in India
  • To provide national-level competitive exposure to visually impaired athletes
  • To encourage inclusivity and awareness of para-sports
  • To enhance athlete confidence, recognition, and performance
  • To foster teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship among teams from different states

Event Highlights

  • Participation of 18 teams from across India
  • Nearly 200 athletes and support staff in attendance
  • Arrangements by the Para Sports Association of Delhi, including:
    • Playing kits for all athletes
    • Medical support and first-aid services
    • Nutritious meals and clean accommodation
    • Local transportation between venues

The event was efficiently managed, ensuring a safe, organized, and athlete-friendly environment.

Technical Meeting

26 September 2025 | 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
Attended by team officials, referees, and organizers. Competition rules, schedules, and technical guidelines were clearly explained.

Opening Ceremony

27 September 2025 | 11:00 AM
Matches began at 9:00 AM, followed by the formal inauguration.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Ruchika Chauhan, IAS, Gwalior, addressed the gathering and encouraged the athletes. The ceremony included a welcome song, traditional lamp lighting, and motivational addresses.

League Matches

27–28 September 2025
Teams competed with high levels of energy, teamwork, and tactical discipline. Matches were fast-paced and competitive, offering spectators an engaging experience.

Closing Ceremony

The Closing Ceremony was held on 29 September 2025 at 4:00 PM.
The Chief Guest, Shri R. K. Dhakar, Dean, J.R. Medical College, Gwalior, along with the Special Guest of Honour, Shri Kumar Satyam, Additional Collector, Gwalior, graced the occasion.

The dignitaries congratulated the athletes and emphasized the importance of determination, discipline, and inclusivity in sports. Medals, certificates, and trophies were presented to the winners, followed by enthusiastic applause and celebration.
